catch what happiness you can

I'm drinking coffee and procasinating on research project revision, so it seems like a good time to post a meme. This one is an oldie but goodie, gacked from everybody:

Ask me any question about myself and I will answer it.

Alternatively, you can also ask me one fandom-related question in the comments. This can be fandom specific, general, or about fandom/lj stuff/fic writing/etc. in general.

Neat! This was pre-LJ for me - I was mainly on the SMRFF (Sailor Moon Romance Fan Fiction, I believe) mailing list.

*consders the question again* I did watch some TV (Highlander, Pretender, Babylon-5) and read some books pretty avidly (Bujold's Miles Vorkosigan Adventures) before seriously getting into Sailormoon, but since I rarely had people to discuss these with, I don't consider myself that fannish about them. Actually, in terms of being performative about a bit of media, Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat was probably my very very first, since my friends and I used to perform versions of the musical in my basement in Grade 5. Sailormoon was the first one that I wrote fiction for and was involved with in some organized way, though.

What was your first fandom, if I can ask?

That's a hard one. I've been going to cons since I was 16, but those were traditional SF cons, not media cons. Though I did join the Star Wars fan club back in the day [g] I suppose the first TV show where I went and joined a group and bought zines and such was Blake's 7, then Doctor Who. My most involved fandom was Forever Knight, with Highlander running a close second.

*grins* Cool. If I'm writing in a fandom, I tend to have the same medium level of involvement - I participate in some things, but not others, and I write a fair amount of fic, though not always very fast. If I'm just reading in a fandom, I lurk, though I do leave some feedback (I did that in HL a few years ago before getting back into it this spring). Highlander is actually the first fandom where I've gotten really involved in the meta. *g*
