hurricane katrina relief links
I got my flight changed! I'm flying out of BR now on Sunday. ^_^ After that, I managed to drop some clothes, bedding and stuffed animals by the evacaution center at LSU. I wanted to volunteer, but they didn't need more people at the time, so I'm going to try again tomorrow. Also, if people want to help, here are some links about make donations and whatnot:
Baton Rouge Area Foundation has two funds, one for displaced residents staying in Baton Rouge and one for rebuilding New Orleans. Donations can be made online. They also have helpful phone numbers for finding relatives and volunteering.
Red Cross is obvious; they seem to be spearheading much of the relief effort. You can also give blood through the Red Cross.
the Network for Good has many links to places that need donations, i.e. the Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Feed the Children, etc.
LJ Links:
zarq has a comphrensive list of charities that are accepting donations in this post.
elke_tanzer has a similar list.
And regardless of whether you can donate or not, if this list of links could be circulated further, that would be wonderful in and of itself.
