spring is here, spring is here, time for skittles, time for beer!

It's like somebody flipped a switch in the sky, and it's now seriously SPRING. It's warm out, and I'm wearing sandals and shorter skirts and no leggings! I'm seeing my students without coats for the first time in MONTHS. It feels hopeful, as if we might survive this long, hectic year.

I went to a crawfish boil today, a sure sign of spring in Louisiana. Good food, good people. I'm also looking forward to spending spring break with [livejournal.com profile] marathoner452 in Maryland in a couple of weeks. I'm planning on walking more, and eating more salads with spring greens.

I'll be also interested in hearing what everybody's favourite things about spring are, if y'all want to share!

Er, forgot to comment on the emotional issues segment of your post. Yes yes yesyesyes. I'm a well medicated bipolar II *tips hat* and depression is my mainstay of life. Dealing with it positively, finding a way to be a complete human being while being eroded daily, monthly, yearly from the inside, finding a way to be an artist and a mother and a wife and (heaven forfend) myself (!) while fighting that constant fight....it shapes everything about you.

Those of us with few spoons better at least keep our silverware polished and at the ready :)

*shakes hands* Glad to meet you :)

Eek, just saw this! My girlfriend is recently diagnosed bipolar II and is still tweaking dosages. We have many conversations about this:

Dealing with it positively, finding a way to be a complete human being while being eroded daily, monthly, yearly from the inside...while fighting that constant fight....it shapes everything about you.

Because that's it, *exactly*. The illness makes you, for better or worse, and you have to find a way to live. Like finding your niche in the ecosystem.

I also like keep our silverware polished and at the ready because spoons can be like swords at times, weapons you use to get through the day. *g*
