After winter solstice and SGA 2.15 Review
Winter Solstice is over, and once again I didn't go to the service the Unitarians hold. Slept though it, actually, with the result that I am now up at 5 AM for the third morning in the row. *sighs* Next year, maybe.
Managed by some miracle to finish all of my challenge stories - two were late, but my
yuletide story was inexplicably hours early. Now it's time for the usual panic of "omg these aren't really good *at all* and I can't go and change anything!" *g* I'm also getting caught up on feedback now and writing a story that will be part of
alimaaneal's Christmas present. ^_^ And, of course, I'm watching SGA:
Okay, so it doesn't hold a candle to Grace Under Pressure, but still OMG SO CUTE! It was a great episode for wackiness: I loved the awkward hand-holding between Ronon and Rodney during the prayer, the shout-out to Blackadder with Rodney's sidekick-of-the-week, John's whittling of the potato.
And, JOHN. Oh, John.
ohtori_akio said early in Season 2 that he couldn't see John Sheppard as gay and I responded that I could imagine any number of orientations behind that pretty surface (he likes scientists! and puddlejumpers!), but now that the writers are actively throwing women at him, he strikes me as very very *gay*. I mean, his "Oh, wow, I never see this coming" comment when Maya takes off her dress is TOO HILARIOUS. Especially since it was *obvious* that she wanted some of him. And sure, he's kissing her, but it's more like he's just going with the flow rather than, y'know, actually finding her *attractive*. *g*
Though one thing that has been bothering me about the episodes this season is their lack of any sort of decent emotional conclusion. Grace Under Pressure was perhaps an exception to this, though I would have liked to see John and Radek fussing over Rodney a bit on their ascent to the surface. But mostly the rescue with them holding Rodney up and Rodney waving goodbye to his Hallucinated!Sam worked well. However, in practically all the other episodes, I feel let down by the lack of emotional display, i.e. in The Hive with the team: y'all have just gone through hell, would it kill you to show a little more concern and relief for your teammates?!? And with this episode - couldn't it be possible to show Rodney (and Baldric!) being rescued? Or have the final scene with the whole team and Beckett, instead of just John and Elizabeth?
Edited to add that
nopejr is writing drabbles by request in which characters from different fandoms kill Voldemort and she wrote one for me in which Lex Luthor and Rodney McKay conspire together:
Magic Rings
It's the best thing *ever* and now I want more fic with both Rodney and Lex. Go read!

In SG1 guys cried all the time in a manly fashion. I don't expect SGA to start the waterworks, but we're fangirls! we'll find a loving meaningful relationship from a pat on the back, just GIVE US SOMETHING!
