I'm drinking coffee and procasinating on research project revision, so it seems like a good time to post a meme. This one is an oldie but goodie, gacked from everybody:

Ask me any question about myself and I will answer it.

Alternatively, you can also ask me one fandom-related question in the comments. This can be fandom specific, general, or about fandom/lj stuff/fic writing/etc. in general.

What was your very first fandom?

Sailormoon. *grins* Usagi/Mamoru, that great romance novel pairing. I'm still good friends with a few of the people from that fandom and I'm indebted to it for getting me back into writing again. ^_^

My roommate [livejournal.com profile] ninjababe was big into that fandom.

Neat! This was pre-LJ for me - I was mainly on the SMRFF (Sailor Moon Romance Fan Fiction, I believe) mailing list.

*consders the question again* I did watch some TV (Highlander, Pretender, Babylon-5) and read some books pretty avidly (Bujold's Miles Vorkosigan Adventures) before seriously getting into Sailormoon, but since I rarely had people to discuss these with, I don't consider myself that fannish about them. Actually, in terms of being performative about a bit of media, Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat was probably my very very first, since my friends and I used to perform versions of the musical in my basement in Grade 5. Sailormoon was the first one that I wrote fiction for and was involved with in some organized way, though.

What was your first fandom, if I can ask?

That's a hard one. I've been going to cons since I was 16, but those were traditional SF cons, not media cons. Though I did join the Star Wars fan club back in the day [g] I suppose the first TV show where I went and joined a group and bought zines and such was Blake's 7, then Doctor Who. My most involved fandom was Forever Knight, with Highlander running a close second.

*grins* Cool. If I'm writing in a fandom, I tend to have the same medium level of involvement - I participate in some things, but not others, and I write a fair amount of fic, though not always very fast. If I'm just reading in a fandom, I lurk, though I do leave some feedback (I did that in HL a few years ago before getting back into it this spring). Highlander is actually the first fandom where I've gotten really involved in the meta. *g*

Ah, Sailor Moon is a fandom we have in common. It certainly wasn't my first. Give my dad wanted to name me Arwen I was born into fandom, and couldn't say for certain what my first was. I might pick Star Wars if pushed. However Sailor Moon is the first one I was active in online. The first fanfic I published online was a Sailor Moon/X-Men crossover I never finished.

*smiles* I have warm memories of Sailormoon. I was actually just thinking about unfinished SM fic of my own last night (called Knife of Romance, dramatically enough).

Hmm, you also like Fushigi Yugi, right? I was never very involved in that fandom, but [livejournal.com profile] bejiin and I were pretty obsessed with the anime.

*Nods.* I've got the first 6 volumes of the Viz English language translation of the manga and the first 13 episodes of the Geneon release of the anime. While I've gotten into other Yuu Watase stuff (Ceres, and Absolute Boyfriend) Fushigi Yugi is still my favorite. I've got the next volume of the manga, and the first set of the anime episodes on my Amazon wish list. :D

Uuumh, a question.... It's funny I've had one for everyone on my flist that's done the "one fandom related question" MEME. Most of them I asked "This character or that character?" but then I had some idea with each which characters they liked best so I could make face-offs were I knew they'd pick somebody. I know we've got interests in common, but not a whole lot of specifics really. How about, "Your interest list includes bisexual, shoujo ai, and slash. Do you have a preferred... form of pairing up, or is it all good?"

Oh, your icon is so pretty! I've seen all the anime and read a lot of the manga - Hotohori was my anime boyfriend for quite some time! I saw the first episode of Ceres, but it came out when I was getting into non-anime fandoms. ^^

For the most part, I write and read m/m slash now, but I also have an interest in f/f slash, though it's harder to find. Sailormoon was probably the only fandom I wrote mostly het, though I am thinking of jotting down the Methos/Amanda idea I had after I'm done with my thesis revision. And, not that you asked, but in RL, I identify as bi.

Heh, well so far I've read more of the manga than I've seen of the anime. It's a nice change of pace for me to read the manga first. I've spoiled myself some, but I'm enjoying reading it as I go too. Tamahome is my favorite, but Hotohori is a close second. My favorite pairing is m/f/m so in my little world I'd have one on each arm.

I saw the first episode of Ceres, but it came out when I was getting into non-anime fandoms. ^^
Ceres is more typical for me. I've seen all the anime, but only read the first volume of the manga so far. I hope to read more of it.

Ah, another slasher, not that there's anything wrong with that. O:) I just happen to prefer het, or het with some f/m/m action. >:)

It's interesting that Sailor Moon was probably the only fandom you wrote mostly het in. I've got a friend that was looking for femslash/yuri a while ago and one of the things people suggested to her, me among them, was Sailor Moon for Neptune/Uranus. Not that I've even seen that far into the series myself. My interest declined quickly with the introduction of Chibi Usa.

And, not that you asked, but in RL, I identify as bi.
*Nods.* I was strictly interested in your reading/writing habits. But, that's cool to know. ;)

Hee! Though now I'm thinking of Hotohori/Miake/Tamahome...damnit, you're making me want to go and find FY fic again. *g*

A mad hetter, I see! *g* And threesomes are always good. ^_^

I've got a friend that was looking for femslash/yuri a while ago and one of the things people suggested to her, me among them, was Sailor Moon for Neptune/Uranus.

Oh, I love that pairing too - my last two fics in SM involved Haruka and Michiru. Chibi Usa was annoying, but I loved the season that introduced Neptune and Uranus - I saw it subbed, and by the time they dubbed it, was able to laugh at how they tried to keep the fem slashy parts out.

I was strictly interested in your reading/writing habits. But, that's cool to know. ;)

*grins* Well, since you mentioned the interest, I thought I'd say that it described myself - though I guess it could pertain to my reading and writing as well! ^_^

*Nods.* Guilty as charged. A number of my male muses are bi? *Bats eyelashes.* It's the only way to get them into the f/m/m moments. >:)

I've only actually seen the first two seasons. Partly it was Chibi Usa's having gotten on my nerves, but partly it was that I got the impression from talk of Outer Senshi and Sailor Starlights that the cast got to big for my tastes.

*grins* Well, since you mentioned the interest, I thought I'd say that it described myself - though I guess it could pertain to my reading and writing as well! ^_^
*Nods.* Perfectly reasonable. I mentioned it thinking of it as pertaining to your reading/writing preferences, but of course there was nothing in your interests that said it didn't apply to you personally. O:)
