living like you've just begun

So, I'm not zombiefied, despite the brains leaking out of my head from stuffing all the information from the first three weeks of Institute. *g* I've learned a hell of a lot, and have deeply enjoyed teaching summer school. The next week is testing, testing, testing, so if y'all will hold my students in your thoughts, I'll be really grateful. *crosses fingers and hopes for passing scores*

And, oh, yeah, I've also gotten a job. *she says nonchalantly* It's K-2 resource (but more like inclusion or coteaching). That basically means I'll be working in three classrooms with special needs students and anyone else who needs help, though I'm also hoping to have a space to pull kids out if necessary. And it's Lower Elementary, which is my favourite both because of the kids and because of the fact that I don't have to worry about LEAP tests with them. *grins* I'm really excited (and bit nervous)!

I know what you mean about brains turning to mush. 6 hours of literacy instruction today and 6 more tomorrow. The Crisis Intervention Training last week was fun, though.

Oh god, they have us doing fucking busywork since we're not meeting for classes during testing. And it's all stuff on classroom management, which is important, yes, but I'm not going to have a classroom so, um, assignments about coming up with procedures are somewhat moot. Though I guess I could tweak to my unique situation, hmm...

That's very true about the classroom management, especially since you already know where you'll be teaching. It's interesting that you'd say that, because I was talking to a high school science teacher in the program and she said she felt like the program was geared towards elementary school teachers, where I feel the opposite. My July session is content-area specific, so that should help

I observed in a high school chemistry class this morning, and all they did was sit there and do bookwork, occasionally with the teacher going over problems. And it was about 55* in there, or felt like it anyway 'cause I dress for riding in my car with no A/C.

I'm sending out emails to charter school principals in hopes of getting an interview. Or I will be, once I stop goofing off online.
