this charming woman
Jun. 5th, 2006 12:50 pmHave got some sleep, and am feeling better. I've also been fooling around with this: http://regender.com/index.html.
It somewhat successfully switches gendered pronouns and names around. I'm loving the exploits of spiky-haired tough Joyce Sheppard whom all the queer girls fall in love with, and the brilliant, abrasive scientist Rose McKay who has a thing for women in uniform. And of course poor Elias, forced to shake his head at the antics of his millitary commander and chief scientist. Betty Fraser and Rachel Kowalski don't translate nearly as well, alas. And although I was intrigued by the Four Horsewomen of the Apocalypse, Dorothy MacLeod had me in giggles.
Actually, it's made me realise how much of my writing is done from a male perspective and how the worlds of my characters tend to be more male than female. Since I'm a m/m slasher, this should come as no great surprise. But now I have a yen for some good f/f slash - does anyone have any recs?
