It's Christmas Eve and I still have to wrap my presents. *sweatdrops* I do this every year, but I really should be more organised, ne? So I haven't read [livejournal.com profile] ds_seekritsanta story written for me yet, 'cause I'm saving that for a reward after I finish wrapping, but I'm excited. It's called "Kowalski Sings The Blues" and what could be more exciting than that? *grins* Anyway, I also got a neat card from [livejournal.com profile] aishuu yesterday (*hugs you*) so yay, holiday cards and gifts!

And speaking of pressies, I have gift fics for a few people right now. Happy Christmas Eve!

Ray's been asking the wrong questions, he's been kicking down the wrong doors.

He and Frase, they're good, they click, they're the one-two punch and run, baddies, run! Ray tells Faser everything, the ex-wife, the bank, the whole undercover thing, the whole shebang. "I was down, I was weak..." But Fraser won't give. Won't give him anything at all. Just slides right past anything that Ray considers important. That's not fair. That's not buddies.

So Ray figures he'll keep pushing and pushing and pushing. Until Fraser cracks, snaps like a wooden Mountie doll. He's aiming for a real partnership, he's aiming to do a real good job at this undercover gig. There's gotta be a right door around here somewhere. Ray knows it.

Minako liked mysteries. She liked the dark alleyways, the murky motive, the hidden corners of an enemy's mind. She liked the best the mystery solved, the bright light of her wand blasting forth into the darkness.

And Rei was such a mystery.

Rei dressed in flowing red and white, she was ferocious, she was separate. When Minako first kissed her, she felt like she was dancing down a column of fire, narrowly avoiding incineration. Rei's fingernails scraped down her spine and she shivered, knowing herself to be completely vulnerable at last.

This is one mystery she never wants to solve.

For [livejournal.com profile] mklutz: I wrote this after reflecting on your due South season 2 notes. You'll get a real reply soon, I promise!

Ray keeps catching glimpses of Fraser, half-made-up, in the rearview mirror. His red lipstick glistens as he talks and his earrings glitter when he moves his head. Ray swallows, once, twice.

He blows hot and cold, does Ray, but this is definitely making him flush. Benny in drag does nothing for him, but this androgynous figure, half Benny and half female, does things to his insides that should probably be illegal.

He rides out the feeling, though: a couple of deep breaths and a brusque reminder to his partner to wipe off his face before he goes into the Consulate and it's almost gone. See, something's going on with higher up, and Ray knows he's being tapped for a risky job, way undercover. He hasn't told Fraser any of this, of course, but it keeps him from starting anything he can't finish.

And for now, he'll just take of Benny what he can and let the rest slide away in the cool Chicago air.
