Horses, horses, horses!
Nov. 17th, 2002 04:51 pmHey y'all!
So I went horseback riding yesterday for the first time in forever. I was very happy, through I chickened out of cantering without stirrups b/c I haven't done that before and I was still getting used to my horse and to riding again. ^^;; I was riding Pat, who is this big lazy giant of a horse, totally different from the horse I ride at Rampant Lion (Dixie, very small, very fast). It was bit hard getting him to go at first, but once I got used to him I was pretty much on level with the rest of the class - I did a very nice canter *with* stirrups thank you very much - in flatwork at least. We didn't do any jumps, so I don't know how I'll be at that because I haven't jumped in ages. I mean, I know the theory, I could once jump small jumps at a trot and at a canter, but I don't know how I'll be in practice. But Level 2 is "able to do rising trot, starting to learn how to canter and small jumps" so it can't be that difficult right? Right? On another note, Dad said that I could get a crop, breeches, and winterweight riding gloves for Christmas, so I'm excited because it means when I start riding two or three times a week in Janurary, I'll finally have full gear (not that my chaps, riding helmet, and summerweight gloves have not served me well ^_^). Anyway I'll stop babbling about horses and get back to what I should be doing: emailing people and writing essays about androgyny and modernism! ^^;;;
