Ten Unpopular (Mostly Fannish) Opinions:

1) I don't want to have anyone's babies. No, not even if they're the focus of my current obsession.
2) Well-done kidfic makes me smile. It does not, however, make my ovaries explode.
3) Most sex scenes are repetitive, tedious and not worth reading. This does not mean I always skip the sex, because there are authors I like who do write good sex, but that I'm usually more interested in the story.
4) Elizabeth Weir is a good leader. And hot.
5) Cute animals are charming, and well, cute in small doses. After the first couple dozen or so pics, they're boring.
6) I read just about anything, and I know where my back button is. This does not detract from the fact that Sheppard/Weir is just plain wrong.
7) I do not require a warning for character death. In fact, I prefer not to have it.
8) Crossovers are fun, and when well-written, can be thought-provoking and highly entertaining.
9) Methos may be intrigued by Macleod, may commit himself to trying to save the Highlander's head and indeed may fall in love with him. He does not, for god's sake, pine for Macleod.
10) Meta can be interesting, but the amount of navel-gazing fandom does on a regular basis is probably unhealthy.

*shudders at the idea of Methos pining for anything.* Methos? One must be joking.

You'd be surprised! The stories I've been reading, one wonders what Methos did for five thousand years before meeting Duncan. Besides having violent, dubiously consensual sex with Kronos, getting taken by slavers, or being anything but the competent complex man he is. *tongue firmly in cheek*

Actually, I generally dislike characters acting like 14-year-old girls (unless of course they *sre* 14-year-old girls), but the image of Methos, the oldest Immortal, acting like a lovesick puppy is particularly grating.

I really want to write a fic now where Methos makes a pass at Mac, Mac refuses and Methos shrugs and has another beer. This is probably a sign that I've been reading too much overly romantic HL fic, right?

You know, I think the Atlantis producers would probably disagree with you on Shep/Weir. Which is a shame; that show would be much more entertaining if they'd just go ahead and commit to Rodney/John, Teyla/Elizabeth, and Carson/Ronon (what? it's plausible!).

Sheppard/Weir is *horrible*. It gives me the creeps. Teyla/Elizabeth, on the other hand, yum. As is, of course, Rodney/John and hey, Carson/Ronon (I think they would make a good pairing, why not? If you wrote fic, I would encourage you to write that. ^_^).

Oddly, Rodney/John drives me up a wall. It feels like too much of a simplification of a complex relationship between two men. It's my very first squick! (I'm somewhat amused that it has taken me so long to find one.)

I don't know why, but my favorite atlantis stories are gen. Sex just mucks the whole thing up.

*laughs* Well, Sheppard/Weir is squicky for me, so I guess to each her own! I'm feeling more like gen lately as well - sometimes writers *do* use sex to simplify something that should be complicated.
