(no subject)

So. Today is Friday, and I got off work early and took a nap. They have me doing some sort of computer modelling using the data from the linkage map of Iceland that was compiled as part of the research for the Human Genome Project. It sounds pretty neat, though a bit tedious. On the upside, it's my project and I'm not just helping with somebody else's, like some of the other summer research students. On the downside, I don't get to any labwork and though I actually prefer playing with computers, I really need some experience with the lab techniques as well.

But it's all working out better than I expected. I especially had fun yesterday when we took a lab field trip to see the Matrix Reloaded. Along with X2, that adds up to two movies in 19 days. Hey, a record!

Yes, I have no life.

Speaking of movies, does anybody know whether The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is based off of a short story or novel or something? The preview just seemed so Jules Verne (y'know The Journey to the Center of the Earth and such) that I kept thinking it had to be a literary reference to something. I had a dream I knew what it was, but I had forgotten it by the time I woke up. Or maybe I'm just off my head.

It's by Alan Moore, if I remember correctly. It's been on my list of Graphic Novels I Really Need to Read for ages now...So I'm pretty excited that the movie is coming out (if for no other reason than it'll give me an excuse to spend $30 on a graphic novel as obviously I *have* to read it before I see the movie. :0p)
