ekaterinnSo I've been kinda up and down lately and I haven't been posting that often because I'm sure you don't want to hear about how much I'm freaking out over grad apps and the move to Canada. *g* Instead, I have a semi-fannish question:
What are your guilty pleasures in reading/writing fanfic or orginal fic (or producing/listening to vids or whatever)? Do you really like a lot of hurt/comfort even though you know it's been done and done again? Do you secretly like getting-two-characters-to-have-sex cliches (i.e. three-beer queer, sharing body heat, forced by aliens)? What about RPS (Real Person Slash)? Or highly improbably AUs or crossovers Fraser and Ray on Babylon-5!)?
I've find a lot of times that I really like to see a character down-and-out, beaten up, a wreck. Not only does it set the stage for some real nice hurt/comfort, but it's also kinda appealing in and of itself. My favourite character in that respect right now is Ray Kowalski from due South) - I abuse him dreadfully in my own fics (getting him shot, giving him a nervous breakdown and/or indentity crisis, almost getting him burned to death, etc.) and reading other's fics that do the same. *grins* Poor Ray!
